How do I create a learning pathway?
A learning pathway allows you to control which courses users get enrolled in and in what order. There are two ways to add courses within a RedSeed pathway, depending on how you want learners to access them:
Add all courses to the first position
If you add all courses into the first position of a pathway, learners will immediately have access to all courses at once. This option is ideal when you want users to move freely through the training without needing to complete courses in a specific order.
Add courses to the pathway sequence
Alternatively, you can add courses to the pathway in sequence. In this setup, each course will unlock only after the previous one has been completed. This is perfect for structured learning journeys where progress depends on completing earlier content.
If you don't have access to the Pathways menu then please contact your RedSeed Account Manager or email support@redseed.me and we'll get it set up for you.
Creating a learning pathway
Select the 'Pathways' option from 'Manage' dropdown on the top navigation.
Click the 'Add new Pathway' button.
Provide the following details: Name — The name of the Learning Pathway.
- Status — By default, this is set to 'Locked' which means it's only visible to people already enrolled in the Pathway. Anyone that isn't already enrolled in the Pathway can't see it. It's a good status to use when creating your Pathway as it won't be visible to anyone so let's keep it 'Locked' for now.ll make it 'Active' when we are ready to enrol users.
- Assign to locations — Choose the locations you want the Learning Pathway to appear.
- Description — A brief description of what the Learning Pathway is about.
- Enrol users in this pathway by default — By default this setting is turned off. We recommend that you speak to your RedSeed Account Manager or RedSeed Support before turning this on. For more information please refer to this article.
Click the 'Save and continue to courses' button.
Under the 'Courses' section choose from the drop-down the first course you want the user to be enrolled in. You can also add external courses to a pathway, but their manager has to mark them as complete manually on the user's Edit Enrolments screen.
Continue to add as many courses as you'd like to the Learning Pathway. You can re-order courses in the Pathway by clicking on the move icon (the 6 small dots next to the course name) and dragging it to the required position. You can also delete a course from the Pathway by clicking the trash can icon.
Once you are happy with your Pathway change the status to 'Active' and press the 'Save Pathway' button. It will now be available under the 'Edit Enrollments' page for users at the assigned Pathway locations.
Setting a time delay
You can add a time delay before the next course in a pathway appears on a learner’s My Training page. It’s helpful for giving learners time to apply what they’ve learned, avoid information overload, and reinforce retention before moving on to the next topic.
The course will only become visible once the set number of days has passed since the previous course was completed. Learners do not receive a notification when a course becomes available, nor will they be notified if a course becomes overdue.
