Types of user accounts in RedSeed
RedSeed users can have one of three main roles:
- Trainees (also called Learners) — Users who complete training courses.
- Managers (also called Coaches) — Users who coach trainees and monitor their progress.
- Administrators (sometimes referred to as HR users) — Users who manage accounts, reporting, and user access across the organisation.
What can a Trainee do?
A Trainee has the most basic level of access in RedSeed. They can:
- Access and complete training in courses they’ve been enrolled in.
- Enrol themselves in any courses marked as optional at their location.
- View learning resources assigned to their location.
- Update their own profile information — including their login details.
What can a Coach/Manager do?
Coaches can be at any level of your organisation. What they can see and do in RedSeed depends on their assigned location.
In addition to everything a Trainee can do, Coaches can:
- View and report on users and locations at or below their own.
- Add and edit users — including updating login details — at their location or below.
- Enrol (or bulk enrol) users in learning pathways and courses at their location or below.
- Mark users’ workbooks, practical activities, and SkillsChecks at their location or below.
What can an Administrator do?
Administrators can be assigned to any level of your organisation in RedSeed.
In addition to everything a Coach can do, Administrators can:
- Add and edit locations — including assigning resources, courses, and learning pathways — at their location and below.
- Add and edit learning resources at their location and below.
What can a Top-level Administrator do?
Top-level Administrators have the highest level of access in RedSeed. They can do everything a regular Administrator can — plus they can manage settings and content that apply across the entire organisation.
This includes the ability to:
- Add and edit learning pathways.
- Add external courses.
- Add SCORM or xAPI courses.
- Edit course settings.
- Add and edit SkillsChecks.
- Manage rewards and points.
PLEASE NOTE: You can set Administrator users to not have the ability to coach. This means they won’t appear in the coach selection dropdown when managing your team’s enrollments. This setting is primarily for administrators who won’t be coaching, ensuring they're not displayed as an available coach within your company.
