Setting up Single Sign-On (SSO) in RedSeed
This guide explains the steps for setting up Single Sign-On (SSO) with RedSeed and provides details on what to expect during the setup process.
What is Single Sign-On (SSO)?
Single Sign-On (SSO) allows you to log in to RedSeed LMS using your organisation’s credentials through an OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect compliant identity provider (IdP) — such as Okta, Google Workspace, or Microsoft Azure.
This secure setup streamlines access, allowing users to log in with their existing organisational credentials.
Setting Up SSO in RedSeed
To enable SSO for your organisation, please follow these steps:
1 - Set up a client on your IdP
Configure a client application in your IdP with the following callback URL:
https://{your-subdomain}.redseed.me/login/{your-identity-provider-name}/callback
Replace {your-subdomain} with your RedSeed subdomain and {your-identity-provider-name} with the name of your IdP, for example ‘azure’.
2 - Send client details to your RedSeed Account Manager
Once the client is set up, provide your RedSeed Account Manager with:
- Client ID
- Client secret
- Tenant ID (if using Microsoft Azure as your IdP)
3 - Enable User Registration via SSO (Optional)
RedSeed LMS offers automatic user provisioning upon the first SSO login. With this feature enabled, a new LMS account is created the first time a user clicks ‘Sign in with (IdP name)’ — no prior setup in RedSeed is required.
If you’d like to enable this feature, please talk to your Account Manager. They will complete the configuration on RedSeed, enabling SSO for your users.
What to expect after SSO setup
Once SSO is configured:
A ‘Sign in with (IdP name)’ button will appear on your RedSeed login screen. Use this option to log in through your organisation’s IdP.
- If you’ve already logged in with a standard RedSeed account but would like to enable SSO for future logins, go to your Profile page and select ‘Add login method’ to link your profile to SSO.
