How do I upload an xAPI or SCORM course to RedSeed?
The following steps will take you, as an administrator, through how to upload your course into the RedSeed LMS.
OK - so you'll need your xAPI or SCORM zip file to complete this step - if you haven't then check out this article on how to export your Articulate Rise course ready for the RedSeed LMS.
UPLOADING YOUR COURSE
1
From the main RedSeed menu select
COURSES and the following screen will appear.
2
To add a new course click the
ADD NEW COURSE button at the top right and select
ADD NEW XAPI OR SCORM COURSE from the dropdown.
You will be taken to the following screen.
3
Either drag the xAPI or SCORM zip package you created earlier into the drop area or click
BROWSE to upload the file.
NOTE: Make sure there are no spaces in the filename and that the zip file is under 500mb in size. If you navigate away from this page your course will be saved as an ‘archived’ course and you can refer back to it from the course list in step 1 above.
4
Once the course zip file has been uploaded the
STEP 2: COURSE DETAILS section will appear.
5
ACTIVE VERSION: The active version will be version 1 and will have the current date and time.
NOTE: If you upload a new version of the course you will need to select the new version from this drop-down.
6
NAME: You can now give your course a name. This will be what trainees see and what you'll see on the dashboard and within reports etc - so make it logical and easy to find!
7
STATUS: By default, this will be
ARCHIVED - meaning it won't be visible to trainees just yet. You can set it to
ACTIVE when you want to make it available for users to be enrolled in it. The third option you'll see here is
LOCKED this status is only used when you'd require users who have a current enrolment to be able to finish the course, but not have any new enrolments created.
8
LOCATIONS: This section allows you to determine what locations within your business the course is available too. Simply tick and untick the locations where you want, or don't want, this course available.
9
DESCRIPTION: You can add a description of the course here. Keep it simple - just a sentence or two!
10
CATEGORIES: You can tag a course with a category or multiple categories. You may need to make, or add, the category first if it doesn't already exist - if so just click the
ADD NEW CATEGORY button.
11
COURSE THUMBNAIL: If you have an image that you want to associate with this course then you can drag and drop an image to upload or click the little pencil icon to browse for your image.
12
If available for this course and for your business you may also have two further options that allow trainees to self enroll in the course or to allow them to complete this course multiple times (eg repeat the course). Please talk to your RedSeed account manager to help with these options!
13
And lastly, click
SAVE CHANGES at the top right of the screen!
