How do I upload an xAPI or SCORM course to RedSeed?

The features and steps outlined in this article are intended for Administrator users of the RedSeed LMS — these options are not available for coaches, managers, or trainees.

The following steps will take you, as an administrator, through how to upload your course into the RedSeed LMS.

You'll need your course already exported as an xAPI or SCORM zip file to complete this step.

Uploading your course

  1. From the RedSeed LMS navigation menu select ‘Courses’ from the ‘Manage’ dropdown.

  2. To add a new course click the ‘Add new course’ button at the top right and select ‘Add SCORM/xAPI course’ from the dropdown.

  3. Either drag the xAPI or SCORM zip package onto the drop zone or click ‘Browse’ to upload from your file browser.

  4. Once the course has uploaded successfully the ‘Step 2: Course settings’ section will appear.

PLEASE NOTE: Ensure there are no spaces in the filename and that the zip file is under 500mb in size.

If you navigate away from this page your course will be saved as an ‘archived’ course and you can refer back to it from the Manage courses list.

Add or edit course settings

  1. Active verson: The active version will be version 1 and will have the current date and time stamp. NOTE: If you upload a new version of the course you‘ll need to select the new version from this drop-down after the upload has successfully completed.
  2. Name: You can now give your course a name. This will be what trainees see and what you'll see on the dashboard and within reports etc - so make it logical and easy to find!
  3. Status: By default, this will be ‘Active’ — meaning it may be visible to trainees. You can set it to ‘Inactive‘ if you dont want your team enrolled in it just yet. The third option you‘ll see here is ‘Locked’. and this status is used when you require users who have a current enrolment to be able to finish the course, but not have any new enrolments created.
  4. Locations: Course locations allows you to determine what locations within your business the course is available too. Simply tick and untick the locations where you want, or don’t want, this course available.
  5. Description: Here you can add a short description of the course. Keep it simple — just a sentence or two!
  6. Categories: You can tag a course with a category, or multiple categories. You may need to make, or add, the category first if it doesn’t already exist - if so just click the ‘[+] Manage categories’ button.
  7. Thumbnail: To associate an image with your course, click the ‘camera/upload image’ button and select your image. Course images on the RedSeed LMS have an aspect ratio of 1280px x 500px.
  8. Allow self enroll: If selected the course will reappear under the trainees‘ ‘Optional’ tab on their Training Dashboard.
  9. Allow users to be enrolled multiple times in this course: Once the course has been completed this allows users to be re-enrolled in the course.
  10. Allow bulk enroll for this course: This allows other Administrators and Managers to enroll their teams in bulk — rather than than one at a time!
  11. Inactivity period: After the selected number of days, if the trainee hasnt made any progress in the course, their training status in this course will be marked as ‘Inactive.
  12. Points: Trainees will be awarded this amount of points every time they complete this course. Read more about RedSeed rewards.
  13. Due date: If selected, trainees will have this many days to complete the course after they are enrolled in it. Read more about course due dates.
  14. Expiry date: If selected, completions in this course will be marked as expired after the set period. Read more about course expiry dates.
  15. And lastly, click ‘Save settings’ at the top right of the screen!
