Set up and get started with RedSeed

Welcome to your RedSeed LMS! We look forward to seeing your business grow!

Check out our video based LMS User Guide for Administrators here.

But where do you go from here? What do you actually do first?

Glad you asked!

This guide will walk you through the key steps for setting up your business in RedSeed — from adding users and assigning training, to understanding how your coaching and reporting tools work.

RedSeed is a simple-to-use Learning Management System (LMS) designed to help you and your team get the most out of your training. While it’s easy to navigate, there’s plenty of powerful functionality under the hood — so we’ve put together this quick guide to help you get familiar with the platform, fast.

Adding locations

Locations help you organise your business within RedSeed. To add a new location:

  1. Go to the Locations panel on your Dashboard and click ‘Add location’.
  2. Give your location a name and select a location type — Region, Store, or Department.
  3. If your RedSeed setup includes preloaded pathways, courses, or resources, you can choose which ones to make available at this location. Otherwise, you can add courses in the next step: Adding courses.

Adding courses

Let’s add your first course to RedSeed. There are a few requirements for uploading a course to RedSeed — you can read them here.

  1. Go to the ‘Courses’ section under the ‘Manage’ menu at the top of the page.
  2. This page is your main hub for managing existing courses and adding new ones.
  3. To add your first course, click ‘Add new course’ and select ‘Add SCORM/xAPI course’.
  4. Click ‘Browse’ or drag and drop your course ZIP file into the upload area.
  5. Once your file is processed, you’ll be taken to the ‘Course settings’ page.
  6. On this page, you’ll need to enter some basic details about your course — like the course name and description.
  7. There are also a few other settings you can customise. We recommend reading this guide before making changes.
  8. To enrol users, you’ll need to set the course status to ‘Active’.
  9. Once you’ve entered all the details, click ‘Save changes’.

Congratulations — you’ve just uploaded your first training course to RedSeed!

Adding users

It’s time to add users to RedSeed so they can start training.

  1. From your Dashboard, go to the ‘Users’ panel and click ‘Add user’.
  2. Enter the user’s details.
  3. Click ‘Save user and continue to courses’.

How to enrol a user in a course

Normally, when you add a user to RedSeed, you’re automatically taken to the ‘Edit enrolments’ page to enrol them in courses. But you can also enrol users at any time by following these steps:

1. Go to your Dashboard and navigate to the user’s location. Or do a quick search to find the user in the list and click on their name.

3. Click the ‘Edit enrolments’ button.

4. Use the toggle next to a course or pathway to enrol the user.

5. If prompted, assign a coach using the dropdown menu.

6. Click the ‘Save’ button in the Pending changes box to confirm enrolments.

Set default coaches

Let's briefly cover marking in RedSeed… Marking is done by Coaches and Coaches are assigned to users enrollments in courses to mark them when required.

There are two main ways to assign a coach to mark a user's enrollments:

  1. Via the users ‘Edit enrolments’ page, you can read how to do that here.
  2. Setting a default coach for a particular location. This means any new enrollments for users will be assigned to that location's default coach. This can help making it much easier to manage.

To set a default coach for a location go to any location via your RedSeed dashboard and select the ‘Edit location’ button. From this page you can select a Coach from the dropdown under the ‘Default coach’ section.

Add resources

Resources are a great way of providing your users with documentation they may require during their training or as a part of their job. We allow you to upload the following file formats:

  • .pdf
  • .xlsx
  • .docx
  • .mp4

To upload a resource to RedSeed navigate to the ‘Resources’ section via the menu bar at the top of the page. Select the ‘Add new resource’ button and like courses click ‘Browse’ or drag and drop your resource file into the area provided. You will be redirected to the ‘Edit Resource’ page where you will need to provide a few basic details before pressing ‘Save changes’

Add pathways

A Learning Pathway allows you to control which courses users are enrolled in and in what order.

For instance, once a user completes the first course in a Learning Pathway they will be automatically enrolled in the next course. This makes training and managing enrollments seamless by removing the time it takes for Managers and Administrators to enrol users in courses.

This lets you dedicate more time to other aspects of your businesses development without having to worry about maintaining user enrollments. Pathways do it all for you!

Pathways require a bit of explaining so click here to find out more on how to set up your first pathway!

Watching the charts on your dashboard

Your Dashboard provides you with an overview of courses, locations, users and training within your business. Your level of access, or what you can and can't see on the dashboard, is determined by the location of your account within your business. For example, if you're an administrator at head-office you may be able to see all your users and training for all your locations. However, if you're a manager at a lower level, you will only be able to see the users and training for that location and below only!

For more information on the different sections and how the data they provide might be valuable to you click here.
